Roadmap Sessions

The roadmap session is our intentional beginning. It is more than just an intake appointment; it’s a thoughtful, extended conversation designed to help clients feel seen, understood, and supported from the very beginning. At The Mending Place, roadmap sessions offer a deeper kind of connection, allowing space to explore health history, cultural background, lived experiences, personal strengths, and goals for growth. Rather than jumping straight into treatment, I take time to learn about tthe whole you—your history, your culture, your strengths, and what you’re longing for. It’s care that honors your story, not just your symptoms. To start your journey with The Mending Place, schedule your initial roadmap appointment online today.

Roadmap Sessions Q & A

What is a roadmap session?

A roadmap session is a comprehensive, one-on-one consultation that lasts 60 minutes. It's designed to build a clear, compassionate picture of your life: your emotional and physical health, cultural and family context, values, strengths, and current concerns.

But this is not just a fact-finding meeting—it’s a collaborative experience. You and Dr. Leann co-create a path forward that aligns with who you are and where you want to grow. Your voice leads the way. By honoring the full context of a person’s life, roadmap sessions help ensure that the care provided is aligned with who they truly are, not just what they’re struggling with.

How can a roadmap session help inform the care that I receive?

This session provides clarity. Instead of jumping into solutions, we first pause to understand the bigger picture—what’s aligned, what feels off, and what matters most to you.

From that foundation, Dr. Leann can recommend a personalized path: whether that’s therapy, coaching, a blend of both, or another trusted referral. You’ll walk away with clarity about your care—not just what kind, but why.

For those feeling stuck or overwhelmed, a roadmap session offers structure, insight, and a deep breath forward. It helps identify priorities, highlight strengths, and uncover new possibilities for healing and growth.

What can I expect from a roadmap session?

You can expect a warm, nonjudgmental space where you’re invited to be honest, reflective, and open. Screening forms are sent prior to the appointment and reviewed during the appointment. Dr. Leann may explore a range of topics, including past emotional or physical health experiences, cultural and family influences, identity, goals, and values. You and Dr. Leann all spend time identifying what’s been working, what hasn’t, and what kind of support might feel most helpful moving forward.

The tone is collaborative, curious, and empowering. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach, you and Dr. Leann co-create a plan that resonates with their unique story and vision for the future.

What happens after a roadmap session?

After your session, you’ll receive a summary highlighting core themes, insights, and personalized next steps. This may include:

  • Recommendations for therapy, coaching, or integrative care

  • Tools or practices aligned with your values

  • Referrals or resources, if needed

Your roadmap is a starting place—not a fixed prescription. It grows as you grow.

Whether this is your first step back into care or the first time you’re seeking support, a roadmap session offers direction, connection, and grounded clarity.

At its core, a roadmap session is about creating space to pause, reflect, and move forward with intention. It honors the whole person—and helps ensure that whatever comes next feels aligned, supportive, and deeply personal.
